High performance computing clusters
There are many HPC (High Performance Computing) clusters vendors, especially
for scientific parallel computing, and everyone offers different "turnkey"
hardware solutions. Nevertheless, a customization of the product is often in
order, and it may be expensive.
As an example, scientific fields which produce large amounts of data (like bioinformatics or climate science) need to accurately tune the size of storage systems, in order to avoid the cluster to become a "data silo".
